MARIAN INSTITUTE FOR INNOVATIVE TEACHING – LEARNING AND EVALUATION (MITLE)
Presently, the Higher Education in India is undergoing a paradigm shift where the focus is on student-centred learning and hybrid or blended classes. The old teacher-centred, content focused approach has now shifted to learner-centric, outcome based education and technology integration. This shift has necessitated a whole lot of changes both at the attitudinal as well as at the curriculum design, teaching-learning approaches and assessments level for students, teachers and other stakeholders alike. The role of teacher changes from the “sage on the stage” to the “guide on the side”, coaches of understanding, and not mere providers of content knowledge, skill or activity. For championing this paradigm shift, and training the stakeholders for adopting an outcome based, student-centric education, the College has established Marian Institute for Innovative Teaching – Learning and Evaluation (MITLE) in 2018, an Institute within the campus with the funding support from RUSA.
MITLE is an institute operating within Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) committed to transform learning in Higher Education. Innovations in curriculum, pedagogy and assessments are the primary foci of the institute. Through research based best practices in teaching –learning and assessments, the MITLE offer professional development services for educators in Marian and other colleges in Kerala and outside.
